Mahmoud Osama

Senior Wildlife Researcher & Editor-in-Chief

8+ years of field and editorial experience

Biography

Mahmoud Osama is a field entomologist and science editor who has spent more than eight years documenting venomous invertebrates and rare vertebrates in arid, coastal and tropical habitats. His fieldwork began with scorpion population surveys in Egypt's Eastern Desert and has since expanded to include venom-delivery morphology in hymenopterans and survey work on data-deficient reptiles.

He founded Venom & Rarity to close a persistent gap in consumer wildlife media: accurate, plainly written explanations of what venomous animals actually do to human tissue, and honest accounting of what conservation status codes mean in practice. Every guide he publishes is checked against primary toxinology literature, national poison-centre guidance and the IUCN Red List rather than recycled from other websites.

Mahmoud works with photographers, herpetologists and clinical toxinologists as external reviewers, and he personally verifies species identification, distribution claims and first-aid recommendations before publication. When evidence is contested or thin, the article says so.
